Map: Tricking Paradise (04-04-02)
Mapper: Michael Flatley
Custom textures: Newbi, Michael Flatley, and other textures ripped from other artists...
Special Thanks: www.overdrivepc.com and the opc community for their testing and input

This map is meant for the sole purpose of freestyle tricking in Quake III Arena. The map draws ideas from the S.F. Rush 2 stunt course, Tony Hawk series, all previously-released Q3 tricking levels, and my own imagination.

FAQ:

Q - How do I load the map?
A - "/map paradise" or "/devmap paradise" if you want cheats.

Q - Why does the map look like crap?
A - This is my first map. The first map always sucks. Also, my purpose was in building a map to trick in not a work of art.

Q - Why do my fps drop in this map?
A - The map is huge. It has lots of textures that require multiple passes. The map runs great at 800 by 600 on my system with visual settings on high but my computer is better than yours.

Q - Where can I get/submit demos for this map?
A - www.overdrivepc.com provides a forum for trickers to meet and share such things as demos. This map was created with the help of opc. Hopefully the map will be playable on their tricking servers.

Q - What do the black monoliths do?
A - Come into contact with a black monolith and you are given full health, armor, and full ammo for the bfg, plasma, rocket launcher, grenade launcher, and rail. I threw in the rail in case anyone wants to do some sort of rail trick involving 2 or more trickers. The idea for the monoliths is that you can theoretically do a bunch of tricks without god mode or give all. I didn't disperse a bunch of health, armor, and weapon items around the map because that would increase the performance hit. The black monoliths, once touched, won't be activated again for another 30 seconds.

Q - Is there bot support?
A - Shut up.

Q - Is there a short explanation for everything you included in this map?
A - Yes:

1) All rails, slides, and blue ice are slick. This is a new concept I haven't seen implemented in any other map and it allows for some new types of tricks.

2) This map has ramps. To use the ramps you need to hit them very fast. The faster you hit the ramps the higher and farther you will go.

3) Red swirly things are pads you can travel through and blue swirly things are teleporters.

4) By jumping off the side of the map you will teleport to a designated spot on the other side of the map. By falling almost straight down off the side of the map you will teleport to a designated spot at the top of the map.

5) The yellow square thingy is in fact a trampoline. Yes, I gave you a trampoline. I thought of everything.

6) The boxes on the top floor are large Jolly Ranchers and are quite tasty.

7) This map was created with promode in mind so there are some tricks unique to promode physics.

8) The three ugly towers are for exploiting the bounce bug. Stand on the MF block, walk into the corner formed by the tower, and then let go of all direction keys. You should bounce back up. This only works if you do /pmove_fixed 1 or if you do /sv_fps 125 and /g_synchronousclients 1.

9) DRPD packs your ass like a suitcase, SiT is seven's manslave, Sysop does way too many plasma climbs, Camping Gaz knows way too much about the Q3 source, Michael Flatley is the Lord of the Dance, and b3nt will eventually lose his mind while compiling the 18GB Promo XIII.
